Readout of Ranking Member Brown’s Meeting with Dr. Janet Yellen, Nominee To Be Treasury Secretary by President-Elect Biden

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) – ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs released the following readout after he met with Dr. Janet Yellen Nominee for US Treasury Secretary by President-elect Biden. If confirmed Yellen would be the first woman to lead Treasury:

“I spoke with Dr. Yellen about tax policy, climate change, economic inequality, unbanked and underbanked communities, as well as how best to address the current public health and economic crisis.  Dr. Yellen knows there is so much work to do to get the virus under control and help the economy rebuild and recover.  Dr. Yellen is the kind of public servant we need, she has served as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, Chair of the Federal Reserve, and I am confident that as Treasury Secretary Yellen will lead our nation out of this crisis and build a better economy that delivers real results for workers and small businesses, not just Wall Street.”
