Warren Seeks FHFA Nominee Bill Pulte’s Deleted Social Media Posts Ahead of Nomination Hearing

Pulte Appears to Have Deleted Over 24,000 Tweets

“I am writing to seek your assistance in gathering previously public information about Mr. Pulte that he appears to have deleted and is now hidden from the public.”

“To ensure the Committee can perform its duties, I request that you provide all of Mr. Pulte’s social media activity on your platform since he created his account in 2009.”

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs (BHUA) Committee, wrote to “X” CEO Linda Yaccarino, seeking the recovery of over 24,000 of Bill Pulte’s posts on X (formerly Twitter) that he deleted in the months leading up to his nomination.

Bill Pulte, the CEO of Pulte Capital Partners and the grandson of homebuilder William Pulte, was nominated by President Trump on January 22, 2025, to lead the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). In reviewing Mr. Pulte’s public X account and archived tweets, BHUA Committee staff made a startling discovery: virtually all of Mr. Pulte’s tweets appear to have been deleted.

“Given the importance of the position, the Committee has begun reviewing Mr. Pulte’s tweets to evaluate his policy positions, temperament, and fitness to serve,” wrote Ranking Member Warren. “In reviewing Mr. Pulte’s public X account and material archived on the Way Back Machine, however, my staff discovered that virtually all of Mr. Pulte’s tweets are missing and appear to have been deleted.”

As part of the Senate’s review process, Ranking Member Warren requested that X provide all of Mr. Pulte’s past social media content on its platform, which may offer valuable insight into his policy views and fitness for a key position overseeing companies that support $8.1 trillion in mortgage financing.

“To ensure the Committee can perform its duties, I request that you provide all of Mr. Pulte’s social media activity on your platform since he created his account in 2009. There is bipartisan precedent for requesting such information,” wrote the Ranking Member.

Mr. Pulte is expected to appear before the BHUA Committee for his nomination hearing on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Ranking Member Warren requested Yaccarino provide Mr. Pulte’s social media activity no later than Monday, March 3, 2025.
