JOHNSON STATEMENT ON SENATE CONFIRMATION OF NOMINEES

WASHINGTON – Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Johnson (D-SD) released the following statement on the Senate’s confirmation of Dr. Jason Furman, to be a Member and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers; Ms. Kara Stein and Dr. Michael Piwowar, to be Members of the Securities and Exchange Commission; The Honorable Richard Metsger, to be a Member of the National Credit Union Administration Board; and The Honorable Mary Jo White, to be a Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission for a full term expiring June 5, 2019.

 

Jason Furman

“Jason Furman has a distinguished record as a dedicated public servant and economist, and his confirmation today is well-deserved. As our economy continues to recover from the worst recession since the Great Depression, Dr. Furman’s extensive experience as an economist for the National Economic Council, the World Bank, and the Council of Economic Advisers will serve him well as he counsels the President on overcoming our economic challenges.”

 

Kara Stein and Mike Piwowar
