Scott Applauds Paul Atkins’ Confirmation as SEC Chairman

Washington, D.C. – Tonight, the Senate voted to confirm Paul Atkins as the next Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Following the vote, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-S.C.) issued the following statement:

BACKGROUND:

Following Paul Atkins’ nomination to serve as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Chairman Scott met with Atkins and highlighted his extensive experience in financial regulation.

During the Senate Banking Committee’s nominations hearing with Atkins, Chairman Scott noted Atkins has spent his career ensuring our “capital markets remain the envy of the world.” Last week, Chairman Scott successfully advanced Atkins’ nomination out of the Senate Banking Committee.
