Brown Applauds EXIM Bank For Its Continued Commitment to Domestic Manufacturers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Chair of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, issued the following statement after the board of the Export-Import Bank (EXIM) voted unanimously and with bipartisan support to establish a new financing tool for domestic manufacturers. The creation of a domestic financing facility will help expand American manufacturing and improve domestic supply chains.
“EXIM is doing exactly what Congress told the Bank to do when we reauthorized its charter in 2019: help American exporters compete with China and other nations,” said Brown. “We need to make more things in America, and EXIM is helping reshore critical supply chains. I applaud EXIM for taking this step and will continue to work with them to protect American jobs and bolster domestic manufacturing.”
Recently, Sen. Brown urged his colleagues on the Senate floor to advance the nomination of Judith Pryor for First Vice President of EXIM. He also took to the Senate floor to support Reta Jo Lewis’ confirmation as President of EXIM, who is now the first Black woman to lead the Bank. Finally, as Ranking Member of the Banking & Housing Committee in 2019, he secured passage of a historic seven-year reauthorization of EXIM after years of fighting right-wing special interests to ensure EXIM can continue serving American manufacturers.
