THE COMMITTEE ON BANKING, HOUSING, AND URBAN AFFAIRS will meet in OPEN SESSION to conduct a hearing on “Outside Perspectives on Russia Sanctions:  Current Effectiveness and Potential for Next Steps.”  The witnesses will be:  The Honorable Daniel Fried, former Coordinator for Sanctions Policy, U.S. Department of State (2013-2017), and former Assistant Secretary of State for European and Asian Affairs (2005-2009); The Honorable Michael A. McFaul, the Peter and Helen Bing Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution and Professor of Political Science, Director and Senior fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University, and former U.S Ambassador to the Russian Federation (2012-2014); Ms. Heather A Conley, Senior Vice President for Europe and Eurasia, Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), and former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Eurasian Affairs (2001-2005); and Ms. Rachel Ziemba, Adjunct Senior Fellow, Energy, Economics and Security Program, Center for a New American Security (CNAS).
